Concussion can have a significant impact on patients with both temporary and permanent effects. It can lead to altered sensorium, changes in neurological status, seizures, headaches, mood disorders, neuropsychiatric and cognitive disorders and insomnia. Repetitive concussion can, in some cases, result in long term cognitive and neuropsychological issues. Aside from clear cases of concussion, symptoms may include headaches, mood complaints, insomnia, personality changes, poor concentration or attention span, excessive somnolence or eating disorders.
